Business Groups Endorse Candidates for DC Council Seats

Washington, DC - Three candidates for DC Council seats today received joint endorsements from the Greater Washington Board of Trade’s DC Political Action Committee (PAC) and the DC Chamber of Commerce PAC.

 The two business groups endorsed:

Eric Goulet (D) in Ward 3;
Harry Thomas, Jr. (D) in Ward 5; and
Curtis Etherly (D) in Ward 6.

After separate interviews with all of the candidates, committee members from both groups noted that there are several strong candidates who want to move the city forward.

Kelvin Robinson, Chairman of the DC Chamber of Commerce PAC said, "We believe that the ward candidates selected will bring a welcomed perspective to the District Council. Each understands the critical issues facing the District, such as quality education, jobs and housing, as well as the crucial partnerships that must be forged between business, community, and government in order to address them and continue the District's forward progress."

“We faced a difficult task selecting from such a strong pool of candidates,” said Michael Rodgers, co-chair, Greater Washington Board of Trade DC PAC, and executive vice president of corporate services, MedStar Health. “But we felt these three individuals surfaced as the candidates who can provide the type of leadership the District needs.
